TfL still affected by ‘ongoing cyber incident’
Transport for London (TfL) has restricted its online services following a cyber attack on its computer systems. In response, TfL limited access to live travel information on apps and its website, and temporarily disabled the feature allowing passengers to view contactless journey histories.
TfL reassured customers that there is “no evidence” of compromised data and confirmed that transport services remain unaffected.
Affected services include train updates, JamCams (which provide live traffic feeds), and the photocard application portal. The booking system for Dial-a-Ride, TfL’s door-to-door minibus service, was also disrupted, though bookings can now be made via phone with full service expected to resume soon.
Shashi Verma, TfL’s Chief Technology Officer, said, “We identified suspicious activity on Sunday and took immediate action. We are investigating with the National Crime Agency and National Cyber Security Centre. While internal restrictions remain in place, there is no impact on public transport services or evidence of compromised customer data.”
TfL continues to update customers and staff on the situation. https://tfl.gov.uk/campaign/cyber-security-incident
